“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery – air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, this is what it is to be happy.”
For many, the epitome of their Highlands stay is a day or two out on the hillsides in the company of an experienced Ghillie – often someone who has been doing this all of their working life, just as did their father and their father’s father before them. You will be in expert hands.
Learn about the land, natural processes, and why careful management of deer numbers is vital to the well-being of the ecosystem as a whole; an opportunity for you to play a part in our wider land management concept. We still bring the deer off the hills using traditional method of Highland Ponies on many of the estates, providing a quality of stalking which is difficult to match.
If you’d like to try something different and enjoy the epic landscapes, try one of our ‘pony picnics’ – a day out with our guides and Highland Ponies, exploring the hillsides, lochs and rivers. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the scenery, wildlife and the ponies at work. The delicious picnic awaiting you prepared by one of our chefs is worth the walk itself.
