The team at Wildland were delighted last year when the BBC confirmed that they would be visiting the Cairngorms Connect partnership area to film and broadcast live the popular Winter, Spring and Autumnwatch series in 2019. Earlier this year, the Springwatch series was aired which captured the hearts of many nature lovers and enthusiasts across the UK and viewers.
From their base at the Dell of Abernethy, the Springwatch team went out and about to different locations across the Cairngorms National Park, including Wildland’s very own Glenfeshie Estate. Glenfeshie is at the heart of Wildland’s conservation restoration and preservation programme and we were delighted to have the opportunity to show off this majestic landscape and the results – to date – of this huge landscape scale conservation project.
The show also featured the Cairngorms Connect partnership: a partnership of neighbouring land managers, committed to a bold and ambitious 200-year vision to enhance habitats, species and ecological processes across a vast area over 600 square kilometres within the Cairngorms National Park. It is the most extensive and wildest landscape of its kind and the partnership is at a scale unparalleled in the UK.
With Autumnwatch returning to our screens next week, we are excited to see what amazing wildlife footage the skilled camera team will unveil next – set against a stunning backdrop of the magnificent autumn colours of the Scottish Highlands.
Autumnwatch will be live on BBC Two from Tuesday 29th of October.
