The month of August whizzed past as the team at Wildland began the countdown to the opening of Wildland’s newest hospitality venture, Lundies House. Located in the far north of Scotland in the Sutherland coastal village of Tongue, Lundies House enjoys a prime position nestled between the magnificent sweeping coastlines and rugged mountains found only in the north.

It has been Wildland’s vision to realise a loving restoration of this former manse in the heart of Tongue to become a cool and stylish boutique guesthouse – and to position it as a key stopover destination on Scotland’s North Coast 500 route. This vision was finally realised when, at the end of July, the builders packed up their toolkits and handed over the house to Wildland’s interior design team to add their finishing touch of magic.

For many months’ past, as part of the planning and development of Lundies, interior pieces were carefully selected by owner Anne Storm Holch Povlsen and Concept and Design Manager Ruth Kramer, who strived to create a unique marriage of Scottish vernacular and contemporary Scandinavian design throughout the house. Much thought and consideration were given to all aspects of the interior and external spaces to create a finish that is individual and simplistic – yet provides a certain warmth that makes you feel at ease.

Each room has been given its own subtle individual character and style in both look and feel, this and the fantastic but understated quality throughout, means our guests can relax in unique comfort. The steading courtyard, complete with studio bedrooms, an outdoor dining space and fire pit are an amazing venue for the north of Scotland.

A standalone birch tree which was hand selected and carefully transported from neighbouring Kinloch estate, has been strategically planted as a centrepiece which reflects our wider ecological restoration plans for the surrounding Wildland estates.

Last week, the team at Lundies were delighted to open the front doors of the house to welcome their first hospitality guests.

“Thank you for a truly wonderful stay. Lundies is so beautiful – as is the gorgeous surrounding landscape. Thank you again – we cannot wait to return!”

“A simply luxurious home from home in the most stunning of surroundings. Exquisite food and friendly (family) service. Be back for sure. Enjoy.”

To receive such kind and warm endorsements from our guests, is what Wildland is about.
