Aldourie Castle

A baronial beauty on Loch Ness’s shores

“Anchored in the classical heritage of a Scottish country house, Aldourie Castle is influenced by contemporary Danish design.
Stay

Our Rooms

Every meticulous detail of Aldourie has been designed to make our guests feel entirely at home. Our elegant rooms weave together comfort and character while our warm and welcoming team look after all who come through our doors. A stay with us is to experience the epitome of Scottish hospitality.

Soulful food and shared stories

Food and feasting are a central part of the WildLand experience. Our chefs are skilled at delivering delicious breakfasts, lunches and suppers and they’re also committed to slow food, using produce from local suppliers, our own estates or foraged from the countryside. Our dining experiences are deeply connected to the landscape and led by the seasons.

Wandering through the sprawling walled garden at Aldourie Castle, it’s hard to imagine more contented chefs. They work hand in hand with our gardeners meaning our ingredients are as fresh and seasonal as possible… and full of natural Scottish flavour.

Whether formal banquets in the Dining Room, laid-back, idyllic lunches in the Boathouse, afternoon tea enjoyed in the drawing room or leisurely breakfasts in the Laird’s Room, the chefs work with excellent local suppliers and sublime produce handpicked the same day from the garden.

For those with a celebration in mind, we also invite you to explore our ever-evolving wine collection in the castle’s expansive cellars.

Things to do

A walk through our gardens and grounds reveals innumerable spots for breathing in all that Aldourie has to offer. From the uninterrupted loch views at the Boathouse to the light-filled Orangery, we have a place for every mood.  Aldourie is also your base for exploring the vast Highland landscapes, with activities woven throughout our 500-acre estate and far beyond.

At Aldourie Castle

Savour rare Highland whiskies in the castle’s calm, wood-panelled corners, or have a night in with loved ones for a private chef experience, whether at the long dining table or gathered in the wild with the scent of the trees around you.

Head into the surrounding landscapes by 4×4, exploring quiet tracks and far-reaching views, then return to the water for a wild swim or a slow walk through meadows alive with colour. Each experience deepens your connection to this place, inviting you to settle, explore and feel part of the land’s quiet renewal.

In the area

Beyond Aldourie, the Highlands open up in gentle, enriching ways. Discover artisan makers whose wool, weave and craftsmanship reflect the character of this landscape, or join a foraging guide to learn the stories and flavours carried by the plants beneath your feet.

Spend unhurried hours fishing on clear, quiet rivers where the only sound is the drift of water, or wander through history on visits to Urquhart and Cawdor Castle, each offering its own window into the region’s past. These are simple, grounding experiences that invite you to explore at your own pace and feel the depth of the place around you.
